Acupuncture: Traditional Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture is one component of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) system of health care. Acupuncture uses extremely fine, flexible, single-use disposable needles to stimulate specific points along the body’s meridians (energy pathways). The needles typically remain inserted for 20-30 minutes stimulating different acupuncture points, though the duration may vary depending on treatment requirements.
Acupuncture is most commonly used for pain relief, though there are many different issues that can be treated with acupuncture. Some common issues are: headaches and migraines, musculoskeletal pain, joint and muscle pain, arthritis, skin conditions, allergies, digestive disorders, stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue, addictions, fertility, pregnancy support and induction.
Your acupuncturist will develop a treatment plan based on individual signs and symptoms using subtle methods of diagnosis, such as pulse and tongue evaluation, and a thorough health history. We also offer cupping, gua sha and moxibustion treatments, which can be combined into your regular treatment plan.

CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral therapy is a form of gentle manual therapy used to enhance the functions of the CranialSacral system. By working through the layers of tissue connected to the cranial sacral system, dysfunction can be corrected, pain relieved, and overall health improved. The light touch allows your therapist to detect and release restrictions in the body’s connective tissues.
The major areas addressed by CranioSacral Therapy are the skull, spine and sacrum. CST can benefit and be performed on the entire body. CST complements the body’s natural healing processes by encouraging proper function of all body systems. Tension eases, nerve transmission improves, the movement of cerebral spinal fluid is optimized, and bones that may be slightly misaligned may even find their proper position.

Massage Therapy
Most people have some understanding of the benefits of massage. Whether a quick shoulder massage to relieve tension, or a full body relaxation massage, most people have experienced the relief that massage provides.
What is lesser known is that massage can directly affect not only the function of the muscular system, but the nervous, circulatory, and immune systems as well. Whole body massage can aid in recovery from an injury or accident, increase range of motion, and calm the nervous system. By temporarily increasing circulation and lowering blood pressure, massage also works to promote mental clarity and increase the feeling of overall well-being.
We offer the following types of massage therapy:
Sports/Injury Massage, Swedish Relaxation Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Pre-natal Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Trigger Point, Myofascial Release, Lensen - Muscle Energy, Facial Massage and Cupping

NAET Allergy Elimination
Namburdipad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET) is an innovative system for alleviating sensitivities. Sensitivities can occur when a substance that might otherwise be harmless causes an overreaction in the body. When an irritant is encountered it causes a blockage in the body’s energy pathways. This blockage causes interference between the brain and body via the nervous system. NAET is a natural, drugless, and non-invasive method to clear the body of the blockages created by sensitivity to a particular substance.
In NAET, sensitivities are addressed in a specific sequence using a combination of kinesiology, acupressure and acupuncture techniques. Typically one item is worked on at a time, followed by a 25h period of avoidance.
Examples of common conditions: eczema, fatigue, hay fever, asthma, irritable bowel, headaches.
Examples of environmental and food sensitivities : dust, smoke, pets, grass, mold, eggs, dairy, fruit.

Osteopathic Manual Therapy
Osteopathic treatment is fairly unique in that the practitioner relies on the restrictions that they find in the different structures of the body to guide the treatment, rather than on a set of specific symptoms or on a specific presentation. Using non-invasive manual techniques, the practitioner then restores movement in the area, which results in better blood supply to the different structures, allowing the body's healing abilities to work more efficiently.
The rate of success is related to the extent of any problem which is mechanical in nature. Therefore, it is only after a thorough assessment of the restrictions that are present, as well as a treatment, that we can tell what can be done in any particular case. The intent at our clinic is to find the cause of a problem and work to resolve it, the fewer the treatments the better. In order to achieve maximum results, we have longer appointment times than most. This varies a little bit depending on the practitioner. It is typical to wait 3-4 weeks in between sessions so the body has time to fully process the treatment.
The Osteopathic Manual Therapists in our clinic are registered with the Alberta Association of Osteopathic Manual Therapists (AAOMT). Our provincial association (AAOMT) is a member of the Canadian Federation of Osteopathy, which is also a member of the Osteopathic International Alliance.
